OVERVIEW

The Radar is capable to continuously (without any time gap) detect ground and low flying small aircraft and rotorcraft. The Radar provides detection, automatic tracking and classification of the targets. Both automatic and manual target classification is available to the operator. The Radar is based on Frequency Modulated Continuous Wave Technology (FMCW). It utilizes low transmission power and continuously changing frequency providing for low probability of detection and interception (LPI).
The Radar utilizes 32 frequency channels in a wide operating frequency range to eliminate potential environmental disturbances and interferences and to adapt to the operating environment.
Embedded GPS and magnetic compass unit are installed for quick deployment and settings. The Radar is portable due to its low weight and provides easy installation in hardly accessible locations. The Radar is certified to withstand and operate in harsh environmental conditions and is suited for terrain vehicles transportation conditions.

The Radar is fully solid state, low power and low dissipation design, providing for very high MTBF. The Radar is designed for easy integration with command and control systems and can be interfaced via Ethernet or RS485.

KMR_12 - Innovatív radar kifejlesztése

PGSR-3I BEAGLE

A mintegy 400 millió forint összköltségű projekt / kutatás keretében a mozdulatlan radarok egy új generációját kívánjuk létrehozni, amely működési elvében és adatfeldolgozási módszereiben is teljesen új megoldásokat tartalmaz a klasszikus radar technika vonatkozó fejezeteihez képest.
A radar nem fog mechanikai mozgást végezni, ami megfelelő jelfeldolgozási háttér biztosítása mellett gyakorlatilag tetszőleges számú és pozíciójú virtuális nyaláb egyidejű létrehozását és független mozgatását teszi lehetővé. A mozgásból adódó korlátok megszűnése folytán a megfigyelt terület minden részlete minden időpillanatban hozzáférhető és kielemezhető. Lehetővé válik a legkülönbözőbb mozgásparaméterű és - jellegű céltárgyak (pl. kúszó emberek) detektálása is.

A projekt megvalósítási időszaka: 2012.10.01. - 2014.12.31.

Innovatív, soknyalábú radarunk (ún. multibeam radar) kutatási-fejlesztési feladataihoz nagy lelkesedéssel fogtunk hozzá. Izgalmas mérnöki feladatok körvonalazódtak a szub-beam azimut algoritmusok kutatásának és a clutter dinamikus range kutatásának témakörében. A kapcsolódó fejlesztésekkel teljes prototípussá kiegészülve előáll egy teljesen új filozófiájú és az eddigi radar felhasználási lehetőségeken messze túlmutató, attraktív termék. Az új koncepciónak, új technikáknak és új algoritmusoknak köszönhetoen szélesedik a kutatási profilunk, gazdagodnak szakmai tapasztalataink mind a kapcsolódó mérnöki szakterültek, mind a megrendelői igények felmérése és kielégítése terén. Legfontosabb nyersanyagunk ebben a projektben is a magyar mérnöki tudás. A "Magyarország megújul" akció és szemlélet keretében szeretnénk hozzájárulni a magyar muszaki tudás, innováció és szellemi potenciál erősítéséhez és hasznosításához. Jelenleg a projekt harmadik munkaszakaszában járunk, melynek keretében a clutter dinamikus range - azaz a környezetből vett jelek dinamika tartományának - kutatását végezzük.

A csapat feladata a PPE egyéb részlegei (különböző elven működő radarok), illetve nemzetközi partnerek által biztosított hardverelemek (video kamerák, hő kamerák, forgatóegységek, stb.) rendszerbe integrálása, vezérlése, adatainak feldolgozása.

We are active in the field of antenna design for military and civil aviation and ground applications. ADAMS

THE ADAPTIVE MULTISENSOR SYSTEM

The Adaptive Multisensor System integrates a wide range of surveillance sensors such as radars, thermal imagers, video cameras and other devices into one complex but easily usable system.

While the radars provide continuous observation of a large area detecting any movements, the electro optical sensor arrays provide detailed picture of any targets for accurate identification.
The software layer of the ADAMS is a Windows® operating system based application, fully controllable by one operator. The software uses map based visualization which presents the geo-located sensors, detected targets and Points of Interest with easily understandable, user friendly icons. The controller software provides enhanced situational awareness by integrating several devices, such as radars and electro-optical sensors into a complex but easily usable multisensor system. The adaptive algorithms couple the different devices and provide a smooth slew to cue operation. The scalable network architecture allows sensors to distribute their data to multiple clients and provides remote control functionality. All radar detections, classified tracks, video frames and operator interactions are automatically recorded and can be easily replayed by the software.

Radar
Our ‘Beagle’ and ‘Beagele FT’ radars are capable of detecting and recognizing moving targets on or close to the ground. The high tech DSP technologies can differentiate between moving and stationary targets. Based on the state-of-art technology, our radars can determine the exact parameters of the detected targets; can track and classify the movements even in changing environmental conditions.

Thermal Camera
Thermal cameras provide an easily understandable view of the observed area even at poor visibility conditions. These cameras are detecting the thermal radiation of the observed objects, humans and animals. Thermal cameras can be used in darkness and actually at all weather conditions, the cooled models are useable in foggy and rainy environment, while the uncooled ones are more fit to see through smoke.

Video Camera
These devices are providing the well known visual image of the observed area. The wide zoom capability enables the user to see the same image in the optical range as the thermal imager presents, but the user can see the overview of the area. The high tech algorithms provide automatic target following, classification and alarm to the user.

Others
Our system is capable to control and process data from sensors which are using different operation principles. We can handle acoustic and seismic sensors, optical or microwave barriers, motion detectors, etc. These products can complete the capabilities of the electro-optical sensors and can fulfill special requirements.

CONTROL SOFTWARE


Software Architecture
The basic software of the control system is the Sensor Manager Server (SMS) that performs direct communication with the connected sensors and forwards their output data. Visualization is realized in the Sensor Control Interface (SCIN) that displays data delivered by SMS in required format and provides full sensor control functionality from this surface. The SMS can serve several SCINs and the SCIN can control a number of SMSs. So the sensors distributed over the surveillance area can not only be directly controlled by their dedicated operator unit but also can be addressed and requested by a remote control center or other remote sites.

OVERVIEW

The MGS3 ’Scout’ is a vehicle equipped with a number of surveillance modules, a PGSR-3i ‘Beagle’ radar unit, an electro optical sensor array and a Command Center.
The PGSR-3i ‘Beagle’ provides continuous observation of a large area detecting any movements, while the electro optical sensor array provides detailed picture of any detected targets for accurate identification useable in both day and night operation.
The electro optical head and the radar are mounted on retractable masts. The vehicle is assembled with a leveling system in order to stabilize and level the sensors. The high capacity battery system provides enough power for long time surveillance scenarios, but the working hours can be extended by a backup generator.The operating platform, Pro Patria Electronics’ unique Adaptive Multisensor System, presents an easy to operate user interface, offering the possibility of multi-tasking and educated decision-making to the operator. The software is capable of utilizing different map formats and displaying the detected targets over the map. The video of the cameras and the control functions are also integrated into the same system proving even automatic slew-to-cue functions. Every surveillance data and user interaction is recorded and can be replayed for further analysis.

OVERVIEW

The system integrates two surveillance sensors, a PGSR-3i ‘Beagle’ Radar unit and an Electro-Optical Sensor Array.
The PGSR-3i ‘Beagle’ provides continuous observation of a large area detecting any movements, while the Electro-Optical Sensor Array provides detailed image of any detected targets for accurate identification useable in both day and night operation. The Electro-Optical Sensor and the Radar are mounted on their individual tripods and connected to the Operator Unit via cables and interface boxes. The standard military batteries provide enough power for 8 hours surveillance scenarios, but the independent operating time can be extended with extra battery sets or vehicle generator/battery.

The operating platform is the Pro Patria Electronics Ltd developed ADAMS (ADAptive Multisensor System), and provides an easy-to-operate user interface, offering the possibility of multi-tasking and educated decision-taking for the operator. The software is capable of utilizing different map formats and displaying the detected targets over the map. The video of the cameras and the control functions are also integrated into the same system proving automatic Slew to Cue functions. Surveillance data and user interaction is recorded and can be replayed for further/later analysis.

WIDE RANGE OF USAGE

The radar PGSR-3iFT ’Beagle’ is member of the PGSR Beagle family of FMCW radars, making use of all advantages specific to this excellent and well-proven radar class. Mounted on top of towers, it is watching and collecting information from the surrounding area practically from 360 degree. Numerous camera vendors are supported; new camera integration is standard procedure. Optionally camera integration/control hardware is available. The radar PGSR-3iFT ’Beagle’ is key element of sensor systems for early warning, illegal border crossing prevention and threat recognition along extensive border sections in desert or harsh environment. Improve the resilience passive cooling was deployed, no ventilator used for cooling. If several radars are operated, neighboring radars cover shadow zones of each other, to achieve full coverage of surveillance area. Radar operating channels are selectable and adjustable. Neighboring radars do not disturb each other even if radiating and receiving signals over a common area. The PGSR-3iFT ’Beagle’ radars are the highest level ruling intelligent units in the radar-camera-sensor modules hierarchy. The radar controls cameras: activates, directs, ”slews to cue” etc.

PGRSR-3i ‘Beagle’ can be carried in backpacks by two-man teams to cover areas hardly approachable by vehicles.

The radar is very durable, capable of withstanding a wide range of environmental factors and is also very reliable, with only a minimal chance of malfunctioning (MTBF > 10000 hours). Due to its operating principles PGSR-3i ‘Beagle’ has minimal possibility of being jammed or intercepted (LPI - Low Probability of Intercept).
